Dance FAQ’s
What will a year of Dance Education Cost?
Other than the yearly class cost and registration fee, there are a couple other items to budget for.The necessary items are:
Leotard
Convertible tights for age 7 and up
Proper shoes depending on the classes taken. You can get these items at "All That Jazz" in Wexford for a 10% discount when you mention your child dances at Shaler Area Performing Arts.
Leotards may be purchased at Walmart, Kohls, or Target, but we do NOT recommend buying the tights or shoes there. If the heels do not rub, these shoes will suffice for ages 6 and under. Also check our used shoe container located at the Dance Committee Desk in the Entry Hall.
Leotard’s are between $15-$25.
Proper Tights between $8-$14.
Shoes can run from $12-$40 for younger children and more if you choose to buy an expensive shoe.
Other Costs: We purchase costumes in October/Early November for our Spring Recital.Typically a costume costs between $50-$55 per costume. We offer fundraising in October to defray these costs. We try to utilize 2 in 1 costumes for the students in multiple classes. We do everything in our power to keep costume prices as low as possible for you.
In addition to the costume for the recital, clean tights in the appropriate color will be needed also.
The following costs are optional:
You will also have the opportunity to purchase professional dance pictures (cost determined by photographer), a professional VHS or DVD of our show ($24 last year), flowers for your star ($6 per bunch), and we sometimes sell Ads in our Recital Program ($4.-$10).
